Premier League - Adebayor 'an alternative' for Milan

Eurosport - Sat, 27 Jun 16:19:00 2009

Arsenal forward Emmanuel Adebayor could be an option for AC Milan if their bid to sign Wolfsburg striker Edin Dzeko fails according to Milan chief executive Adriano Galliani.

Galliani confirmed that the Togo international is one of the options should their first-choice option be blocked - and admitted that Milan have already spoken to Arsene Wenger about prising the striker away from the Emirates.

"We continue to follow Dzeko. At the moment he is not for sale but if Wolfsburg change their mind I'm ready to head to Germany immediately," Galliani said.

"Adebayor and Sevilla's Luis Fabiano could be alternatives but there have been no talks even if there has been a phone call about the Togolese with Arsenal coach Arsene Wenger."

He added: "We don't have any agreement with Dzeko," said Galliani. "He is a Wolfsburg player.

"Dzeko has expressed his liking for a move here but at this moment there are no negotiations yet.

"We wrote to Wolfsburg and they responded that he is not for sale. If Wolfsburg change their minds we have agreed they will call Milan. If they do I am ready to immediately leave and go there.

"There's no fee yet, at the moment Dzeko is not for sale. If he becomes for sale then we will start talking sums."

Speculation has been rife that midfield duo Andrea Pirlo and Gennaro Gattuso would be joining former coach Carlo Ancelotti at Chelsea.

However, Galliani reiterated that no offers have been made for Pirlo, while Gattuso has offered to take a pay cut to extend his stay at the San Siro.

Galliani said: "There have been no offers for Pirlo and Thursday night with Ancelotti was just a dinner between old friends, seeing as Carletto was in Milan for his daughter's graduation. Wednesday night I was at dinner with Gattuso who told us that he was ready to reduce his salary."

  3. we wouldnt miss him if he went, far to lazy when on the pitch. has the odd moment of brilliance but they are rare. and if we could get around £25 million for him i say take it and get someone better.

  4. Ade said it previously, "Playing for Milan is like dating Beyonce". In other words, he looks forward to it...
As an Arsenal fan, Let him Go, and bring in a young talent such as Bordeaux's Marouane Chamakh. Van Persie up front and more appearances for Vela and Eduardo will do it...and don't forget the Arshavin can fill in up front as well when all our midfielder get healthy.
Bottom line, the money we get for him can be smartly spent on a potentially better player and still have extra money left for another investment. He will not leave a gap in the squad, we got what it takes to cover for him.

  5. I am a 100% Milan fan. Adebayor is a excellent player and so is Edin Dzeko. I know that Milan only needs 1 striker but why not sign both of them? They both play good and would do well for Milan in next season's champion's league. Fiancial proplems are not even an excuse when one of your highest paid players left for Real Madrid and the other(Paolo Maldini) just retired. GO FOR IT MILAN!!!!!!

  7. Already spoken to Arsene Wenger.., it means Arsenal are ready to sell if offered the right price. So where lies the blame for the player for you out there who are critising him(Ade). All these clubs are out there for business and they are ready to dispense with any player service. Any player who says is loyal must be living in fools paradise.

To "olufemi":Why to leavy Arsenal for Ac Milan?...Because its a way better team than Arsenal.....he hase 7 Champions league wictories, but Arsenal has none,so think before you write nonesense.

Adebayor,..you better leave to Milan, because its a great squad, where you will get mutch more respect.

  20. Don't know why a player would want to leave Arsenal for Milan. Adebayor is a good player he had an off season last season but he still scored some important goals. I do not think Arsenal should sell any players they should just buy one or two more. A defensive midfielder and another player. The squad is a good squad. United are a weaker side now so that is good for Arsenal. Liverpool will aslo be weaker if they lose Mascherano and Alonso.......Chelsea will take time to gel under Ancelloti so this could be a good season for Arsenal
