Premier League - Adebayor 'an alternative' for Milan

Arsenal forward Emmanuel Adebayor could be an option for AC Milan if their bid to sign Wolfsburg striker Edin Dzeko fails according to Milan chief executive Adriano Galliani.

Galliani confirmed that the Togo international is one of the options should their first-choice option be blocked - and admitted that Milan have already spoken to Arsene Wenger about prising the striker away from the Emirates.

"We continue to follow Dzeko. At the moment he is not for sale but if Wolfsburg change their mind I'm ready to head to Germany immediately," Galliani said.

"Adebayor and Sevilla's Luis Fabiano could be alternatives but there have been no talks even if there has been a phone call about the Togolese with Arsenal coach Arsene Wenger."

He added: "We don't have any agreement with Dzeko," said Galliani. "He is a Wolfsburg player.

"Dzeko has expressed his liking for a move here but at this moment there are no negotiations yet.

"We wrote to Wolfsburg and they responded that he is not for sale. If Wolfsburg change their minds we have agreed they will call Milan. If they do I am ready to immediately leave and go there.

"There's no fee yet, at the moment Dzeko is not for sale. If he becomes for sale then we will start talking sums."

Speculation has been rife that midfield duo Andrea Pirlo and Gennaro Gattuso would be joining former coach Carlo Ancelotti at Chelsea.

However, Galliani reiterated that no offers have been made for Pirlo, while Gattuso has offered to take a pay cut to extend his stay at the San Siro.

Galliani said: "There have been no offers for Pirlo and Thursday night with Ancelotti was just a dinner between old friends, seeing as Carletto was in Milan for his daughter's graduation. Wednesday night I was at dinner with Gattuso who told us that he was ready to reduce his salary."

  1. If Ade is really committed to Arsenal, then do the same as Cesc and come out and say so. Or, just move on. I think Southend are looking for a striker with your qualities.

  4. Adebayor should see why Arsenal fans say he was not impressive last season, he has gone from the most hunted to secound or even third option for AC milan, if I was in his shoes I'll stay at Arsenal and prove myself to those fans that really admire him.
