Wolves defender Jody Craddock has signed a new one-year contract with the Premier League newcomers.

The 33-year-old central defender, who joined the club six years ago, captained the team during the final stages of their Coca-Cola Championship-winning campaign.

"I'm delighted to have signed the new deal," he said. "I see this as probably one of the biggest achievements of my career."

The former Cambridge, Sunderland and Sheffield United defender continued: "I'm nearly 34 and so to earn this contract is massive for me.

"I feel very happy with how I've done as a player in my career and pleased with what I've achieved but this is another great new challenge.

"I've had the privilege of playing in the Premier League twice before with Sunderland and with Wolves and am really looking forward to going back in there again."

The defender suffered a broken metatarsal in Wanderers' first game of last season but recovered to reclaim his place in the side and help Mick McCarthy's team clinch the title.

He added: "There have certainly been a couple of times when people might have wondered whether I'd still be involved at Wolves.

"A couple of seasons ago I went off to Stoke on loan and then last year unfortunately I missed out for a long time through injury - and then not getting back in the team. Both times I've come back.

"I know it's going to be tough for me again and I know there will be new defenders brought to the club but it's never been any different. It's the Premier League and it's a difficult challenge but I know what I'm signing up for."

  2. When are we going to get new players??????? This keeping the ones we have got seems like we are trying to tie them down for the return journey to the championship! Morgan bought the club for a tenner, he should be putting his hand in his pocket or we will only play his Beloved Liverpool twice for the foreseeable future. I love Wolves and was expecting a better show in the transfer market than we have shown so far! It is not MM fault, its that vermin Moxey playing his old tricks again ! They should have learnt the last time we were up. Wolves till I die!
