An own-goal from Russell Anderson helped SPL new boys Hamilton clinch more silverware with a 2-1 victory over a Sunderland XI at Hartlepool.Accies followed Saturday's win over Huddersfield with a well-deserved 2-1 victory to lift the Wilton Cup at Victoria Park.
David Graham was also on the scoresheet and young midfielder James McCarthy was later named player of the tournament, which was organised to mark Hartlepool United's centenary.
Former Aberdeen skipper Anderson inadvertently gave Hamilton the first-half lead when he diverted Brain Carrigan's cross into his own net.
Accies continued to dominate, although former Celtic winger Ross Wallace caused them some problems, and Tony Stevenson struck the post after the break.
Graham burst into the box and fired past former Hibernian goalkeeper Nick Colgan to make it two and the Lanarkshire side comfortably held on after Jordan Cook's 75th-minute consolation.
Meanwhile, Hamilton have joined the race to sign Derry City striker Conor Sammon, who has been on trial at Kilmarnock.
Speaking after Saturday's 3-0 defeat by Wolves, Killie boss Jim Jefferies said: "We had permission from the Derry chairman to play him, but that was withdrawn after Hamilton had a bid accepted for the player.
"We've agreed terms with the boy, he wants to come here and his agent has made that clear to Hamilton. I'm just hoping the deal is tied up as soon as possible."
