White, from Milton Keynes, is a product of the Sporting Giants Talent ID scheme who transferred from semi-professional football in 2008.

Despite being a relative newcomer to handball, his fast progress since taking up the sport led to Bregenz offering him a trial and subsequent contract.

The 26-year-old has been at a training camp in the Alps with his new club, who are preparing to compete in the qualification stages of the EHF Champions League.

"I've been with the club at a training camp for about a week now," he said. "But I haven't set foot on a handball court yet as the focus at the moment is on conditioning for the coming season.

"We have completed 18 fitness sessions in six days, so it has been an intense start.

"This is quite a step up from Jutland Serie handball in Denmark that I was playing last year, but I am looking forward to the challenge.

"I came to Bregenz in the knowledge that an appearance in the first team this season is unlikely, but I plan just to keep focused on the reasons I came here and hope to develop into a world class goalkeeper."
