Franny Norton praised Kevin Ryan's foresight after the victory of Willkandoo in the Weatherbys Finance Handicap at Catterick.

A 13lb rise for a win at Leicester earlier in the season appeared to have halted his progress but a drop back to seven furlongs worked the oracle.

"He's got a lot of ability but the handicapper was harsh on him," said Norton after the 6-1 success.

"Kevin dropped him back to seven and as he can take a keen hold it worked a treat."
