McLaren use Kovalainen engine joker

Sat 27 Sep, 01:39 PM

McLaren has changed Heikki Kovalainen's Mercedes engine ahead of Saturday and Sunday's action in Singapore.

The German engine manufacturer's chief Norbert Haug explained ahead of final free practice at 7pm local time that the move is precautionary.

"We saw a little bit of usage in the engine," Haug said. "If there was not a 'joker' engine change, we would not have done anything. It's a critical time of the season and if we have it available (we should use it)."

Championship leader Lewis Hamilton is still able to change his engine without penalty, with rules allowing one unscheduled switch before ten-place grid sanctions apply.

  1. Let me explain.

ITV is a british TV station. Hamilton is by far the most successful british driver in the championship at the moment. Most british people want to hear about him - even if he is not on the podium.

Some people might not like it, but that's how it is.

  2. You have a point there Vagrant..someone should tell ITV Hamilton is not the man of the hour and he's not the top British driver and that hes not a consistant performer then perhaps they would neglect him and look for someone else that you may like more..

  3. Having lost the arguement of being/or not being racist towards LH, now a Hamilton fan tells us don't pay attention to him, don't read anything about him and turn away when he comes on Television.......Thats a bit hard to do at the moment considering ITV's biased coverage.....the camera's always pointing at his car, the commentators never stop saying his name and when he does'nt get a Podium finish, ITV still bloody interview him.!!!!!
