Our network of spies report back on the teams set to face English teams in the next round of Champions league matches.

FOOTBALL 2008-2009 Serie A Roma Totti - 0

Roma (home to Chelsea 4 November)

Udinese 3-1 Roma

Roma prepared to welcome Chelsea to the Stadio Olimpico in the worst possible way as the Giallorossi slumped to a 3-1 defeat at new leaders Udinese. Luciano Spalletti's side were already 3-0 down by the time Francesco Totti (pictured) netted a consolation from the spot on 74 minutes. It was Roma's fifth defeat of the season and left them in 15th place in Serie A, a solitary point off the relegation zone.

Atletico Madrid (away to Liverpool 4 November)

Villarreal 4-4 Atletico Madrid

Liverpool's next opponents fought back from two goals down with 10 men to secure a point in an incredible match at Villarreal. Atleti went two up early on through Simao and Diego Forlan before Ever Banega saw red for a second booking towards the end of the first period. Javier Aguirre's side duly collapsed, going 4-2 down before an amazing late fight-back gave them a share of the points, Simao bagging a second and Raul Garcia netting four minutes from time.

Celtic (home to Manchester United 5 November)

Celtic 4-2 Hibernian

Celtic recovered from last week's defeat at Old Trafford with a 4-2 win over Hibs at Parkhead to retain their lead at the top of the SPL table. Hoops skipper Stephen McManus and Cillian Sheridan put the hosts two up before two Steven Fletcher goals drew Hibs level. But with 15 minutes remaining Glenn Loovens restored Celtic's lead again before Scott Brown sealed all three points with number four.

Fenerbahce (away to Arsenal 5 November)

Fenerbahce 5-2 Bursaspor

Under-fire Fener coach Luis Aragones was handed a much-needed boost ahead of the trip to the Emirates when his side demolished Bursaspor at the Sukru Saracoglu. Diego Lugano opened the scoring early on but the home fans had to wait until the second half to see the lead extended. Ugur Boral, Edu Dracena and then Alex were on the scoresheet after the break before Bursaspor pulled two goals back and Fener had Selcuk Senturk sent off. But Deivid swooped to seal the points late on.
