League One - Carlisle sign Hull midfielder

Carlisle have completed the signing of Hull City midfielder John Welsh on a one-month loan deal.

The England Under-21 international will go straight into John Ward's squad for the League One clash with Hartlepool on Tuesday.

Welsh, a former Liverpool trainee, spent a month on loan at Chester in January this year, making six appearances for the League Two side.

Manager Ward told the club's official website: "John is a holding midfielder who can help to steady things up in the middle of the park.

"I feel we need a bit more cover in that area at the moment so I'm pleased that we have been able to get him to work with us.

"He will be available to play against Hartlepool and we are looking forward to working with him."
