Harry Redknapp has made his first coaching appointment at Tottenham by bringing in his former Portsmouth and Southampton assistant Kevin Bond.
Redknapp, who left Fratton Park to take over at Spurs over the weekend, has also confirmed he still intends to return to Portsmouth on Tuesday to receive the freedom of the city.
The 61-year-old was granted the civic accolade after guiding Portsmouth to FA Cup success last season.
Redknapp told Sky Sports News: "I am proud they have given me that and I wouldn't not take it.
"It was given to me for what I did at Portsmouth, for winning the cup and what I did at the club, so why shouldn't I go back there?
"I think they want me to go and do it and I am very proud to. It is not a problem.
"I will have to finish training and drive back there rather sharpish."
Redknapp arrived at Tottenham's training ground with Bond on Monday morning for a session with the players.
Bond was most recently Bournemouth manager but was sacked in September.
Redknapp would not reveal who else he intends to join his coaching staff but admitted he does admire former Spurs captain Tim Sherwood.
Redknapp said: "Kevin Bond has joined me."
He added: "There are a couple of lads who have been here who I spoke to about joining us as well. We will wait and see what happens with that one.
"I like Tim, I think he is very knowledgeable and great on the game."
Redknapp's arrival at the helm on Sunday preceded the club's first victory of the season.
Spurs remain bottom of the Premier League but Redknapp believes the 2-0 win changed the whole mood of the club.
He said: "Yesterday was the big day, we got off to a great start. To win the game yesterday was all important, it changes the whole mood of the place.
"If we'd have got beaten yesterday I'd have been walking in here to a very low training ground but we're walking in having got a terrific result and that lifts the spirits of everybody."
Redknapp's next task is to prepare the team to face rivals Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium.
He said: "It is a tough week. We have got a big game at Arsenal on Wednesday and then Liverpool."

I have to declare my colours here. I'm a Saints fan. But (bizarrely perhaps) Portsmouth are my No.2 team. And I have to stick up for them here. If Portsmouth had a 50,000 seat stadium then they would get bigger gates than Spurs (I kid you not). Portsmouth may also be the only city in the UK where you wouldn't dare walk around the city centre wearing the colours of any other team (except England). The outlook on life is a little bit 'blue-coloured' shall we say ... whether that's bad, good or both.
Just one funny story. I met this Pompey fan on holiday and talked a bit of footie before revealing I'm a Saints fan. At this point, he cowered away from me shrieking 'oh, no, oh, no' ... as if the victim of a cruel con trick.

Jealous of what may I ask, a side propping up the bottom of the league, a chairman that makes a living out of poaching other teams managers, who then in turn want to poach players, don't make me laugh. Redknapp is a money grabber, and is out for personal glory, and just like your team ,and your board, has no CLASS,so get over yourself
Bringing in Bond......is that James Bond ? He'll need him
i think harry will be able to express himself better.
what a nice start for Harry
HARRY IS A MONEY MAN AND HE DID NOT TAKE THE NEWCASTLE JOB COS HE KNEW THE CLUB WOULD NOT GIVE HIM THE MONEY , HE LEFT POMPEY TBECAUSE THE OWNER SAID NO TO MORE MONEY , SO HE LEFT SAME AS HE DID UNDER THE LAST CHAIRMAN MAYBE SPURS WILL DO WELL WITH MR VENABLES 2 AS THEY ONLY WANT TO MAKE A BOB OR TWO OUT OF THE FOOTBALL , VENABLES AND REDKNAPP OUR OF THE SAME DEALERS FOR MONEY LETS HOPE HE USES ALL THE JEWS MONEY THEN SEE THE SPURS FANS GREET HIM , COURSE THEY WON AGAINST ANOTHER POOR SIDE BOLTON AND THE SPURS FANS HAVE THOUGHT THIS IS IT , WELL WE SEE ,
He ruled his friend out of the job at West Ham to take over in 1994 as well...
best signing spurs have made in years, all the negative comments are just from sado's who are a bit envious.
Harry is the most disloyal individual in football, he jumped ship from Pompey to Soton, took them dowm and then jumped ship back to Pompey what a noble fella you must be Harry, Skate to Scummer back to Skate ! Then you chase the Gold at Spurs, well done for getting 3 MILLION a year, no doubt your mansion in Sandbanks needs an extension ? London man my a$!e he is a pound man only and has teamed up with Kevin Bond again, no doubt some transfer dealings in January to bolster the old retirement fund eh !!!!!!!!!!!!!
Can someone tell me if this gentleman Harry is not running away from Liverpool encounter? He knew his next match of Portsmouth on wednesday will be against the giant which he will surely lost. Then he ran to the Totters not knowing after Portsmouth, Liverpool's next match will still meet him in Spurs. Liverpool will beat Spurs handsdown. SO where will Harry dodge again to?
Harry's 61 and he's saved the best till last. He's done well at every club he's been at BUT without any real financial Muscle behind him......Until Now, Sorry Pompey But spurs are higher up the food chain than you! as with Carrick & berbastrop going to Man u spurs fans accepted it! HR with £20-30 million to spend in January will get some real quality players in who will play the spurs way. Well done Mr Levy for having the Balls to change the set up and geting a real english/british football manager in at last! COYS
KEN-(25)I QUITE AGREE WITH YOU...HARRY HAS A GREAT OPPORTUNITY TO DUMP POMPEY FOR NEWCASTLE LAST SEASON,YET HE CHOOSED TO WAIT AND WIN TITLE-FA CUP.WHAT ELSE DO THEY WANT?THEY SHLD BE PROUD OF HIM NOW AND WISH SPURS WELL,AFTERALL HE DUMPED A CLUB TO HELP PUMPEY AVOID RELEGATION 2 YEARS AGO...PLS STOP THE JUDAS SLOGAN !!!
There isn't much loyalty in football. Accept it's a business and the fans are only a part of it when they hand over their hard earned wages for tickets, replica shirts etc. Harry's gone and you should perhaps respect his achievments during his time, Spurs will be paying him a king's fortune so at 61 its maybe his last big pay day.
The Club gave permission to talk because they need the money. How can Harry be a money grabber - he could have done that at Newcastle.
Spurs are a sleeping giant - Portsmouth are at the top of their aspirations.
He only left the last time because he was working for a nutter.
Come on Portsmouth fans - Surely some of you must have left one good job to move too a better one.
Just say Thanks and wish him luck!!!!
ha ha what u think harry was gonna say pomey a @#*$ hole id leave at first chance u shouldnt believe everything u hear he must have loved playin home games 20,000 cap there chamionship clubs with bigger grounds than that and as for spurs not being a bigger club what have pompey done thats spurs aint i know theyve been in the chamionship
Firstly, most Pompey fans accepted him despite the fact he had managed the Scummers, but he is a money grabbing @#$%.
He chased the dollars at every opportunity, and only 4 weeks ago, said Pompey would be his last club because he loved it at Fratton and no other club could compare.
I am over the moon he has gone, because maybe the players will get some recognition, and not Harry takingin all the plaudits.
As for the Yids, everyone hates you, you think you are a big club, but history points otherwise.
Ah Portsmouth. Somewhere in the top ten at the start of the season only to be somewhere at the bottom by the end of it.
get a life harrys gone move on . ohno harrys left us boohoo what can we do il spit my dummy out and have a tantrum boohoo pompey had every chance to say no u cant talk to him hes under contact
Harry can't win can he ?! At Pompey he stabilised the club and led them to their first trophy for 69 years. His ambition has meant that he can't turn down another big club especially at 61. If he had then he would have had others calling him a bottler ! Pompey fans should move on and be grateful for the service he provided rather than slagging him off. Why don't you ask fans of Newcastle, Man City, etc, etc so called big clubs that have won nothing in years. They I'm sure would have been grateful for the FA Cup in their trophy cabinet. Good luck at Spurs Harry and that's from a long suffering fan of QPR.
Talk about a load of u turns by Porstmouth Supporters. One minute Harry is the Mesiah the next he is judas. Grow up kiddies he left to go to a better club get over it -It happens. As for Spurs and Harry's influence it is early days yet but got off to a good start. AS for going down I think niow he has gone you had better look at your own league position as you will bedropping points over the season. Spurs without a doubt will poach at least one player from you and don't be surprised if Defoe comes back to Spurs.
