Crewe claim League Two rivals Burton have made an enquiry about transfer-listed striker Anthony Elding.

The 27-year-old has fallen down the pecking order at Alex and been told he is free to leave the club on loan or seek a permanent transfer away from Gresty Road.

"I have had a message from Burton asking about the situation, so that is something we will follow up," caretaker boss Dario Gradi told Crewe`s official website.

Elding joined Alex from Leeds in the summer of 2008 but spent the second half of last season on loan at Lincoln.
