Steven Gerrard is out of Liverpool's Carling Cup fourth round tie at Arsenal, but should have recovered from his groin problem to play in Saturday's Barclays Premier League game at Fulham.
The Reds will be without suspended midfielder Javier Mascherano, while £20million Italy international Alberto Aquilani is named in a first-team squad for the first time since his summer move, having now recovered fully from an ankle operation.
Martin Kelly (ankle) and Albert Riera (hamstring) are out, while defenders Andrea Dossena and Sotirios Kyrgiakos could both figure having recovered from injuries, the latter defying an initial prognosis he could face six months out with a knee injury.

i have always scratched my head as to how stevie G does not usually take more than ten days to two weeks to recover from all types of injury (since the bad days under gerard houlier when he was always injured), whereas other players tend to take months out for similar injuries. I really would like to know why the arsenal players take so long to recover from even the most trivial injuries, a groin is usually four to six weeks unlike ten days for gerard and, a hamstring takes any number of months for our players, unlike gerard and rooney who only last ten days. I thought our players are younger as well and should therefore heal quicker or, are they just wrapped in cotton wool at arsenal all the time?
Gerrard still out along with suspended Mascherano. Seeing as Aquilani may only figure as a sub, you can imagine what a powerhouse midfield we'll have playing then! While defenders Andrea Dossena and Sotirios Kyrgiakos could both figure having recovered from injuries...oh joy, well that makes me feel better then. NOT! Just watch the enormous gulf in class between Arsenal's kids and Liverpool's B team. And to top it off, you can almost guarantee that Rafa will leave Torres out too! Can't wait to see Voronin in action again (yes, I'm being sarcastic!)
liverpooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo oooooooooooo will lose 4-1!!! :)
