Lincoln vice-chairman Bob Dorrian insists any money the club earn from the FA Cup this season will be used to strengthen Chris Sutton's squad.
City will travel to either Blyth Spartans or Telford United in the first round, with the winners of the tie pocketing £18,000 in prize money.
A run to the third round, something Lincoln have not achieved since 1999, would net the League Two club in excess of £50,000.
Dorrian told the Lincolnshire Echo: "We've already taken a decision that any money we received from success in the cup will be given to Chris.
"For negotiating the first two rounds we could earn in excess of £50,000 so the financial rewards can be substantial. That's not even taking into consideration pulling out a Premier League club in the third round which could make a huge, huge difference.
"Chris knows the importance of embarking on a cup run, especially to clubs like ourselves, and the money he makes he can use as he sees fit in January when the transfer window re-opens."
