Chesterfield midfielder Jamie Lowry could miss the rest of the season after suffering an anterior cruciate ligament rupture.
The 22-year-old, who came through the youth system at Saltergate, sustained the injury in training match and is scheduled to see a specialist to confirm the extent of the problem.
Manager John Sheridan said: "We are all very disappointed for Jamie as he was having such a good season but he will recover and come back stronger than ever."
Defender Aaron Downes is still recovering from a similar injury he sustained in April.
But he is set to return to full training next month following an operation and a long rehabilitation period.
