Grimsby`s 2-0 win at Hartlepool in the Johnstone`s Paint Trophy has seen them collect the competition`s Team of the Round award.
The Mariners, finalists in 2008, turned the form book upside-down against their League One opponents and set up a quarter-final tie with Leeds thanks to first-half goals from Peter Sweeney and Adam Proudlock.
"We performed well up at Hartlepool all over the pitch, and were delighted with the way we played," assistant-manager Brian Stein told the club`s official website.
"We are extremely happy to win an award to remember the performance by and we hope it will be a lucky omen as we travel to take on Leeds in the area quarter-finals.
"We have a long held affection for the Johnstone`s Paint Trophy and it is nice to be linking up with the competition again."
Johnstone`s sponsorship manager Teresa Hardwick added: "We felt Grimsby`s performance and the manner in which they disposed of a highly-placed League One side was worthy of recognition."
