Trio in team of week

Blackpool are the most represented side in the Championship team of the week following their goalless draw with Swansea on Saturday.

Goalkeeper Matthew Gilks and defenders Marcel Seip and Stephen Crainey were rewarded for their performances at the Liberty Stadium which helped the Seasiders move to within four points of leaders Newcastle.

They were joined in the XI by Paul Parry and Billy Jones, who helped Preston draw 2-2 with Middlesbrough at Deepdale, while Peter Whittingham netted a hat-trick in Cardiff`s 4-3 win at Sheffield United, for whom Darius Henderson was recognised.

Adrian Mariappa and Henri Lansbury, following Watford`s 4-1 home win over Sheffield Wednesday, QPR striker Jay Simpson - with three goals in as many games - and Kevin Nolan, who grabbed an injury-time winner for Newcastle against Doncaster, make up the team.

  1. This is really good news for us 'Pool fans. Not only because we take up three positions, but also because they are defensive players. Just what you need when the going gets tough!
