Grimsby striker Danny North has admitted he "let himself go" when he was out of the team earlier this season. The 20-year-old scored twice in Saturday's win at Barnet, his first goals since the Mariners lost on penalties to Burnley in the first round of the Carling Cup in August.
North told the Grimsby Telegraph: "To be honest I went on a bit of a downward spiral after Burnley.
"I wasn't playing regularly and my fitness wasn't what it should have been.
"I let myself go a little bit, but I've been working hard behind the scenes after hours with people like Nathan Jarman.
"I've done a lot of running, a lot of work in the gym and gradually, I've built my fitness back up and the gaffer has given me a chance and it looks like I've taken it."
