Former world number four Jelena Dokic will play at the Hobart International as she fine tunes her preparations for next year's Australian Open.

TENNIS 2009 Australian Open Jelena Dokic - 0

Dokic, 26, who had previously battled weight problems and a crisis of confidence, beat three seeded players on her way to the quarter-finals of this year's Australian Open.

"She captured the hearts of all tennis fans at the Australian Open in January and hopefully she can continue her form in the main draw here and get her 2010 season off to a winning start," Hobart tournament director Michael Roberts said in a statement.

The Hobart tournament runs from January 8-16, with the Australian Open beginning on January 18.

  4. Bobito it won't be last hurrah because after AO she had mononukleosis and she didn't know about it (don't know that i write ill right)/ and it's not easy to get healthy that's why ranking place is only 56 , she couldn't train by this time but lastly won 2 ITF's , GOOD LUCK !!!

  5. Con - I agree that Jelena's run at the Aussie Open was one of the great tennis stories of the year. But I fear that it was a last hurrah. Since then her best result in a tour or GS event has been a 2nd round defeat and by the end of the year she was back playing only challenger events. It's a very sad story of a career, and indeed a life, blighted by the antics of her abominable father. I would love to see her do it all again but I think it's unlikely.

  10. Go Girl, I want to see more of your heroics of this year's 2009 Australian open in 2010. Who can forget your victory against Kleybanova in the rnd16 after twisting your ankle 6-5 up in the 3rd set and going on to win the match 8-6 in style.
