Relive all the action as South Africa thrashed England by 112 runs at Newlands in the third one-day international, with AB De Villiers smashing 121.

AB de Villiers, FOOTBALL - 0

42 SOUTH AFRICA WIN BY 112 RUNS!! England 242 all out! (Parnell 1-0-W): PARNELL CLEANS UP FOR SOUTH AFRICA! Anderson is trapped plumb LBW, and England have been bulldozed at Newlands! South Africa have been imperious and tie the series up at 1-1. Thanks for joining us!

41 England 241-9 (Morkel 2-1-0-0-1-1): Morne Morkel is full of confidence as he races through his ninth over for the cost of just five runs, and England are going down very tamely in this match! Who will get the final South Africa wicket?

40 England 236-9 (Parnell 4-2-1-1-0-W): WICKET! BROAD IS CLEAN-BOWLED BY PARNELL! Broad is dropped by Botha! That was a very poor miss as Broad skies a pull shot and is put down by Botha. However, Parnell clean-bowls Broad with the final ball of his over and England are nine down and reeling! /// David E notes the absence of England's regular supporters in the comments section - good to have you here anyway!

39 England 228-8 (Morkel 0-0-1-W-1-0): WICKET! MORKEL REMOVES BRESNAN! The all-rounder has a swipe at a good-length ball and Smith takes another catch to take South Africa's eighth wicket! Just two runs are mustered off another fine over.

38 England 226-7 (Parnell 2-lb-W-1-0-2): WICKET! COLLY IS FINALLY CAUGHT OUT BY PARNELL! Bresnan gives his in-form partner the strike, but on this occasion Colly cannot beat the ropes and is caught by Amla at mid-on! In comes Stuart Broad, and England look to be a long way short at Newlands.

37 England 220-6 (Morkel W-1-0-3-wd-wd-0-0): WICKET! MORKEL OUSTS PRIOR! An eventful over from the man many compare to Steve Harmison, in which two wides follow the dismissal of Prior, who is snaffled by Smith at cover! Bresnan joins Colly and slashes a ball from Morkel over the covers for three runs!

36 England 214-5 (McLaren lb-1-6-6-0-4): What an over for England and Paul Collingwood! The batsman hammers two huge maximums over midwicket as McLaren wavers in his line and length, before Colly clips a nonchalant four to end the over! 18 runs come off it, and the words 'take a blow there Ryan' will have surely followed!

35 England 195-5 (Morkel 0-1-0-0-0-1): Collingwood prods a rare full delivery from Morkel into the off side for a single, and it takes Prior another four balls to replicate the feat. Morkel pegs Prior back on the crease and he cannot free his arms until the final ball and he retains the strike.

34 England 193-5 (Parnell 0-1-0-0-0-0): Wayne Parnell is proving a real thorn in England's side, and the left-arm seamer keeps Prior firmly in check as just two runs come off his seventh over - Collingwood clipping a good ball through midwicket, turning his wrists to do so, and Prior off the final ball with a nurdle behind square.

33 England 191-5 (Duminy 0-0-0-1-0-0): Another superb over from Duminy, as the part-time spinner concedes just a solitary single as he holds figures now of six overs, two wickets for 25 runs - cracking stuff!

32 England 189-5 (McLaren 4-1-lb-0-0-1): Collingwood thrashes a drive through extra cover for four to welcome back McLaren! Colly then takes a short delivery from McLaren in the gentleman's area, and that was a nasty one! Seven runs come off the over and Colly moves to 65 - he and Prior represent the last recognised frontline partnership.

31 England 182-5 (Duminy 0-0-wd-4-1-1-1): Collingwood gets himself in a strange position on the crease but adjusts superbly to turn the ball away for four behind square! Duminy strays in his line as he bowls a wide, and McLaren will return now from the other end.

30 England 176-5 (Van der Merwe 4-1-1-1-1-2): Prior plays a very pre-meditated reverse-sweep through third man for four, as four singles and a two from Prior yield 10 runs! Van der Merwe is being massively outshadowed by Duminy - a much less established spinner who is proving very effective.

29 England 166-5 (Duminy 0-0-1-1-2-1): Prior cuts a wide delivery from Duminy away for two but he doesn't time it. Three singles follow as the pair continue to rotate the strike - the required rate is now fast approaching nine runs per over.

28 England 161-5 (Van der Merwe 2-0-0-1-1-6): COLLINGWOOD REACHES HIS HALF-CENTURY! The landmark comes in style as he mowes a clean hit over midwicket for six! The spinner continues to rattle through his overs at a quite staggeringly-quick rate as the first four deliveries yield four runs for England.

27 England 151-5 (Duminy 2-1-0-0-W-1): WICKET! MORGAN FALLS TO DUMINY! The spinner is ravaging England's middle-order, and Morgan falls to a mis-timed clip down the ground which Botha snaffles with a tremendous dive! In comes Matt Prior, and England are going down pretty tamely at Newlands.

26 England 147-4 (Parnell 4-0-0-0-1-0): Back comes Parnell as Smith looks to turn the screw, with Morgan joining Collingwood at the crease. Parnell opens with a short delivery which Colly hammers through the leg-side for four, before Parnell concedes just one run from the remainder of the over.

25 England 142-4 (Duminy 0-lb-0-1-2-W): WICKET! DISASTER AS DUMINY REMOVES PIETERSEN! He might be innocuous, but not only has Duminy kept things very tight for South Africa, but he has taken the wicket of the dangerman Pietersen for 45! KP wanders too far across his stumps and a poor delivery deflects off his forearm into the stumps!

24 England 138-3 (Van der Merwe 6-1-0-1-0-1): Pietersen gets down on one knee and puts a slog-sweep in the stand over midwicket - a thunderous strike from KP! That is Pietersen's 500th run against South Africa in one-day cricket.

23 England 129-3 (Duminy 1-0-1-1-1-0): Smith introduces the pretty innocuous spin of JP Duminy, and England really need to take him to the cleaners, but just four singles come off the over - not good enough!

22 England 125-3 (Van der Merwe 1-1-1-1-5wd-1-0): The left-arm spinner protests fervently with the umpire after he concedes five wides, but that was absolute filth and he can have no complaints! Four singles follow and England need to continue picking up 8-10 runs per over at this stage.

21 England 115-3 (Steyn 0-1-0-0-0-2): Pietersen wanders down the track airily before flicking an uppish drive over wide mid-on for two, with just one further run coming off a fine over from Steyn. Credit to Smith, he stuck with Steyn after a few pretty shabby overs from the paceman.

20 England 112-3 (Van der Merwe 0-1-wd-0-2-1-1): Pietersen gets another two runs for a clip through midwicket, with three singles and a wide from the spinner contributing to a steady, if unspectacular over for England. The required rate is now well above eight runs per over.

19 England 106-3 (Steyn 0-1-1-1-1-2): Pietersen whips the ball off his pads for two runs before four singles are taken to end the over - Steyn is enduring a torrid evening!

18 England 100-3 (Van der Merwe 1-1-1-0-2-0): Pietersen and Collingwood milk Roelof van der Merwe for ones and twos around a scattered outfield, with five runs coming off the spinner's opening over. England need to be going at around eight runs per over to have a chance in this match, but the 100 is up!

17 England 95-3 (Steyn 1-1-4-4-1-1): Dale Steyn returns for South Africa as Smith looks to secure a few match-clinching wickets. Collingwood rocks on to the back foot and pulls fiercely through square leg for four, then drills one through extra-cover for a second boundary! That is much better for the tourists as 12 runs come off the paceman's over.

16 England 83-3 (McLaren 1-0-0-1-0-0): Pietersen sweeps the ball away for one run, but that brings Collingwood on strike who plays out two deliveries which England can ill afford to do. Just two singles are taken off the over, and that simply is not good enough for England, who need to go berserk if they are to challenge this score!

15 England 81-3 (Morkel 4-0-0-4-0-1): Pietersen perks up slightly with an attractive drive which pierces the gap to perfection and races away for four! A second boundary is clattered through midwicket with aplomb, and nine runs are yielded from the over.

14 England 72-3 (McLaren 1-1-4-0-0-0): Finally England attack McLaren as Collingwood eases a short delivery through backward-square for four! McLaren finishes the over well, but the tourists need much more than this. Pietersen is biding his time, but needs to cut loose imminently!

13 England 66-3 (Morkel 0-0-0-0-0-0): Morkel is bowling just back-of-a-length and digging the ball up into Pietersen's ribs as he is stifled for room to free his arms. It is a superb maiden over from Morkel and the pressure is slowly mounting on England as the run-rate rises steeply.

12 England 66-3 (McLaren 0-1-1-0-1-1): Well, Parnell will have to wait to continue his spell as Ryan McLaren is brought on by Smith to deliver some military medium. Just four runs come off McLaren's first over, and Pietersen, looking to dominate, is becoming increasingly agitated.

11 England 62-3 (Morkel 0-0-0-4-0-1): Morkel is brimming with confidence after taking the wicket of Strauss in his previous over but, after three dot balls, Pietersen drives through point for four to ease the pressure. England's number four then steals the strike off the final delivery to face a buoyant Wayne Parnell!

10 England 58-3 (Parnell 0-0-W-0-0-0): WICKET! TROTT FALLS FOR JUST NINE! Parnell bowls a wide but full delivery which Trott throws the bat at and edges behind to Smith, who takes a stunning catch at slip! What a catch that was from the South Africa skipper - the ball was almost behind him when he took it! It is a wicket-maiden for Parnell! /// SAFC Babe, the days of cricketers going off for tea are long gone - it is Powerade and salty squash for the boys now!

9 England 58-2 (Morkel 1-1-0-0-1-W): WICKET! STRAUSS NICKS ONE BEHIND OFF MORKEL! The England captain trudges off disconsolately after looking so well set, but flashing wildly at a wide one and being caught behind by Boucher! /// Graeme thinks England will lose by 100 runs, but that man Kevin Pietersen is now in - a lot rests on this partnership right here!

8 England 55-1 (Parnell 2-0-0-0-4-1): Trott moves on to seven with a crisp pull off the back foot through square leg for four, that after a clip off his pads for two through midwicket. /// W says that England's bowling cannot burst a paper bag, but maybe Pietersen will score some runs for a change - he certainly is due a big score!

7 England 48-1 (Morkel 0-0-0-2-0-4): Morne Morkel looks to be heading towards a very decent opening over, until Strauss flashes his giant blade at a wide one and promptly leans on it to acknowledge his boundary! Six runs come off the over, and England have settled nicely apart from Wright's wicket.

6 England 42-1 (Parnell 0-0-W-0-1-0): WICKET! WRIGHT FALLS TO A PARNELL BOUNCER! The gung-ho all-rounder falls for a brisk 24 after skying a bouncer from Parnell to McLaren at deep mid-wicket! Out comes Jonathan Trott on his former home ground - what a moment for him! Just one run comes off that superb over for South Africa. /// David RoyN describes England's bowling as "tripe" - they certainly needed a wicket early on, just as Parnell as done here!

5 England 41-0 (Steyn 4-0-6-1-1-1): BANG! Luke Wright throws the team bus at a slower ball from Steyn and it flies over long on for an almighty six! Steyn collects his cap with a rueful smile on his face and England are cantering along nicely, with a second boundary coming via a flay from Wright past third man for four. /// Firstchoicepm reminds Ivor B that England have won their last six one-dayers against South Africa - will that run be ended today?

4 England 28-0 (Parnell 1-4-0-0-4-4): Strauss is running riot! Three boundaries are taken off Parnell's second over, which is a horror-show for the hosts! Strauss crashes two short deliveries through the covers, showing impeccable timing on both occasions, before cutting Parnell for a third, who seems incapable of pushing up his length.

3 England 15-0 (Steyn 0-1-0-1-0-0): Steyn's second over is metronomic and Strauss and Wright can only eek out two singles between them in a superb over from the paceman. Steyn is up at 94mph as Wright plays and misses at three deliveries.

2 England 13-0 (Parnell 4-0-0-0-1-wd-1): Wayne Parnell, on his comeback from injury, opens up from the other end and Wright immediately has his say again! Parnell floats up a shocking loosener, which Wright crashes through the covers for four, with two singles followed by a wide in another profitable over for England to start!

1 England 6-0 (Steyn 0-0-1-4-0-1): Dale Steyn bowls the opening over for South Africa and, after Strauss takes a sharp single, Wright gets off to a flyer with a streaky edge through second slip for four! A second single follows and six runs come off the first over - England are on the way!

- Luke Wright strides out to the wicket purposefully with Andrew Strauss as England once again change their opening pair.

16:15 The hosts rack up their joint-highest ever score at Newlands with 354 for six - equalling their score against Kenya in 2001! Petersen and Smith scored fine half-centuries, with Amla notching 86 and de Villiers the pick of the crop with a staggeringly belligerent 121 off 85 balls! Do England have a hope of chasing this total down? Post your views below!

50 South Africa 354-6 (Broad 1-4-W-4-1-W): The South Africa balcony is full of smiles as the hosts finish on a gigantic... Petersen slices Broad's first delivery high but safe, before Boucher pummels the seamer over midwicket for four! Boucher falls to Wright on the midwicket boundary for a very brisk 22. Petersen moves to 50 with a pull for four, but Broad gets his fourth wicket with the final delivery!

49 South Africa 344-4 (Bresnan 1-1-1-2-1-0): Bresnan has pretty much been England's best bowler today, which is saying something as he is going at over six runs per over! The Yorkshireman begins sees his first three deliveries go for singles, before Petersen strikes the ball cleanly out to deep mid-wicket and runs two. Bresnan completes a fine over in the circumstances with two good yorkers - well bowled.

48 South Africa 338-4 (Wright 4-2-6-1-0-4): Luke Wright bowls his eighth over, and it is not pretty! Boucher slaps a full-toss for a one-bounce four, then goes one better with a huge six over Cow as Colly proceeds to save what would have been a third boundary! It does come, however, as Petersen dabs a leg-side ball past Prior for four as South Africa move to 338 for four.

47 South Africa 321-4 (Bresnan 1-1-1-1-1-4): Five singles are yielded off Bresnan's ninth over, with Boucher and Petersen running hard between the wickets before the latter pierces the off-side field with a drive for four! /// Ivor B says three things are certain in life: "Death, taxes, and England being constantly beaten." A bit harsh, but a loss certainly looks on the cards today unless Pietersen, Strauss or Trott can produce something very special indeed!

46 South Africa 312-4 (Broad 4-4-0-2-W-0): WICKET! DE VILLIERS IS DISMISSED, BUT IT'S TOO LATE FOR ENGLAND! The latest return of Broad can do little to stem the heavy flow of runs from de Villiers's bat - a stunning uppercut brings him four, then a flick over fine leg for a second, but he finally falls for a magnificent 121 off 85 balls, with Trott taking a high catch at extra-cover!

45 South Africa 302-3 (Bresnan 2-1-1-1-2b-lb): Petersen spanks a full toss through the covers for two runs before three singles keep the runs flowing. Some sloppy wicket-keeping from Prior gifts the hosts two byes as Bresnan beats the bat. /// Mpumedanisa is urging South Africa to "show the English what we're made of" ...well, de Villiers is certainly doing just that.

44 South Africa 294-3 (Anderson 1-1-1-4-4-4): DE VILLIERS REACHES HIS 100 IN STYLE! The South Africa number three is crushing England and three more boundaries in successive balls move him on to 110 off just 77 balls! Staggering stuff from De Villiers, who makes Anderson look like a hungover club player as he reaches his fourth ODI century!

43 South Africa 279-3 (Broad 1-4-4-2-0-4): Three incredible shots from De Villiers! The swaggering number three gets down on one knee and simply dabs a good-length delivery from Broad past Prior for four! The second was absolutely lambasted through midwicket - have that! A third is spanked over midwicket as a full toss gets the treatment!

42 South Africa 264-3 (Wright 2-1-1-4-1-2): Wright finds a good length but strays on to Petersen's legs and he whips the ball off his hips for four! 11 runs come off the over in all, as Petersen seizes the initiative. Strauss frantically tinkers with his field as Stuart Broad returns to counter the batting powerplay being taken!

41 South Africa 253-3 (Anderson 4-0-2-1-2-0): Jimmy Anderson returns once more after a very indifferent performance with the ball today. De Villiers crashes another powerful drive through the covers, and Anderson hangs his head in dismay as eight runs are yielded from his sixth over. Figures of six overs for 40 are Saj Mahmood-esque!

40' South Africa 244-3 (Swann 1-1-2-1-1-1): Swann returns for his latest burst and is reverse-swept, patted and dabbed away for singles as de Villiers and Petersen engineer bizarre shot after bizarre shot! The spinner looks slightly baffled as he collects his cap, with seven runs scored.

39 South Africa 237-3 (Bresnan 1-0-1-0-1-4): Bresnan has a huge appeal for LBW as Petersen walks across his stumps, but it was perhaps sliding down leg - a good shout though! Bresnan drops slightly short with the final ball of his over and De Villiers slaps it ruthlessly over midwicket for four!

38 South Africa 230-3 (Wright 1-1-0-1-lb-2): De Villiers is the key for South Africa, no doubt, and he clubs the ball over Cow with a hefty swing of the willow as Wright drops slightly short - the number three is the dangerman and he looks to be cutting loose now!

37 South Africa 224-3 (Bresnan 0-1-0-0-1-0): Daryll Cullinan used to get a lot of abuse for being a rather sensitive character, but Petersen seems to be shutting his eyes in deep meditation between deliveries! Bresnan bustles his way through a very sturdy over - conceding just two runs and hitting the deck very hard indeed.

36 South Africa 222-3 (Wright 1-0-W-0-4-1): WICKET! WRIGHT DISMISSES DUMINY! The number four has been scratching around all innings and Wright gets his second wicket as the batsman catches a pull shot on the splice and is snaffled by Eoin Morgan at square leg! In comes Alviro Petersen, his side's top-scorer at Centurion, and he gets off the mark with a sumptuous drive for four!

35 South Africa 216-2 (Bresnan 1-0-0-2-wd-0-0): Bresnan continues to go at a reasonable economy rate and four runs come off his latest over with Duminy moving around in his crease in agitated fashion. Luke Wright returns now from the other end with Broad's final three overs being preserved.

34 South Africa 212-2 (Broad 1-0-2-0-1-wd-0): South Africa's projected score is 312 if they continue going at their current run-rate of 6.24 per over. De Villiers whips the ball off his pads and runs superbly to scamper a second run with Bresnan dallying - the number three moves to 59 as a result.

33 South Africa 207-2 (Bresnan 1-0-0-1-1-1): Bresnan completes a very solid over from around the wicket, cramping the space outside the off stump. The burly Yorkshireman concedes four singles and stifles the room afforded to the very attack-minded De Villiers!

32 South Africa 203-2 (Broad 2-1-W-0-1-1): WICKET! BROAD HAS AMLA CAUGHT BEHIND! The seamer returns after a pretty shoddy opening spell, and removes Amla with an innocuous-looking delivery which the batsman contrives to pull and is caught behind by Prior! It was a fantastic knock of 86 by Amla, and that brings the sprightly JP Duminy to the crease.

31 South Africa 198-1 (Bresnan 2-2-1-1-0-1): De Villiers records his 21st ODI half-century, and it has been serene progress for the batsman as he saunters through the middle overs alongside Amla. Timmy Bresnan has lacked the punch which he had in Centurion opening the bowling, but that has a lot to do with the pitch, as I'm sure he would be keen to point out!

30 South Africa 191-1 (Swann 0-1-1-1-1-1): Swann rattles through another over very quickly with five singles coming off it with the field scattered to all parts and Amla and De Villiers very much in their comfort zones. De Villiers shows good intent on skipping down the track, but Swann adjusts his length impressively.

29 South Africa 186-1 (Bresnan 0-2-4-2-0-0): Strauss says 'thanks very much Trotty, take a blow', after a solitary over from the former Newlands-dweller, and Timmy Bresnan returns in his place. Amla crashes an airy drive over mid-on for four as the opener continues to plunder runs with two twos ensuring eight come off the over! /// Stevie_1994 says: "Come on England, scatter the stumps!" Hear, hear!

28 South Africa 178-1 (Swann 1-2-0-1-0-1): The off spinner keeps a lid on things in terms of boundaries, but the ones and twos are taken at will as De Villiers and Amla exchange three singles in a five-run over. Still to come in for the hosts are Duminy, Petersen, Boucher, McLaren, and then a very decent tale!

27 South Africa 173-1 (Trott 2-2-1-1-1-1): Trott begins with the ball at his former home ground, and De Villiers drives two full deliveries for two runs as South Africa's run-rate remains well over six! Eight runs come off Trott's over, with singles off the final four deliveries. A lot of batting remains in the hutch for the hosts!

26 South Africa 165-1 (Swann 4-lb-1-1-1-1): De Villiers capitalises ruthlessly on some filth from Swann, pulling ferociously over midwicket as the spinner drags the ball down short. Four singles and a leg-bye follow, and that calls for Jonathan Trott to come on with his trundlers!

25 South Africa 156-1 (Wright 1-4-4-1-0-1): Wright slams two consecutive fours: the first is an expansive drive, and the second is a flick off leg-stump for another! De Villiers plays second fiddle to Amla on this occasion, with the opener cashing in on some loose bowling.

24 South Africa 145-1 (Swann 1-1-0-1-1-2): Swann is looking extremely unthreatening as he loops the ball up, hoping for some turn but getting nothing off a very unresponsive pitch! Wright will continue, but these middle overs represent a big opportunity for the hosts to post a huge total.

23 South Africa 139-1 (Wright 0-0-1-0-1-1): Three singles come off Wright's third over, and the Sussex all-rounder cannot be faulted for his efforts as he bowls full and straight, hoping for an error. De Villiers looks set to cut loose with Amla likely to occupy the crease till the close at this rate!

22 South Africa 136-1 (Anderson 0-1-1-1-2-4): Amla averages 50.31 from his 21 ODI matches - a formidable record! Anderson returns after his inauspicious opening spell, and is unable to peg back De Villiers, who bulldozes a short ball through extra-cover for four with absolute disdain!

21 South Africa 127-1 (Wright 1-1-4-1-2-0): Another nine runs are yielded by South AFrica as De Villiers and Amla keep England firmly under the cosh! Wright bowls a good line, but too short as the pair rock back in their crease and pull the ball away to an increasingly crowded leg-side field. De Villiers plays a merciless cut for four as Wright drops short once more - a delightful shot!

20 South Africa 118-1 (Collingwood 1-0-4-1-2-1): England take their second powerplay as Hashim Amla raises his bat to acknowledge his sixth ODI half-century! De Villiers crashes a pull through midwicket as nine runs come off the over with England not able to peg their hosts back!

19 South Africa 109-1 (Wright 1-W-0-1-1-1): WICKET! SMITH SEES HIS STUMPS SCATTERED!!! England needed the wicket of the South Africa captain very badly and Wright gets it with a full delivery which Smith drags on to his off stump! In comes the dangerous AB de Villiers to join Amla, but the England team are buoyant, when a few minutes ago they were incredibly dispirited!

18 South Africa 105-0 (Collingwood 1-0-2-1-1-0): South Africa have not lost at Newlands since 2003, and it is easy to see why when Smith is teeing off from the outset in this fashion! Luke Wright replaces Swann now as Strauss continues to shuffle his pack.

17 South Africa 100-0 (Swann 1-0-0-1-1-1): 50 FOR SMITH! The South Africa captain nurdles the ball into the leg side and waves his bat unenthusiastically by his head as he acknowledges the landmark! The hosts' 100 is also brought up as England have a brief period of respite in the form of some energy drinks and chat with Adil Rashid!

16 South Africa 96-0 (Collingwood 0-4-1-1-1-4wd-2): Smith ends a relatively prolonged drought of five overs without a boundary as he plays a dashing drive outside his off stump which zips through the covers for four - a supreme shot! Amla and Smith exchange three singles as they run superbly between the wickets, and the hosts' total quickly nears 100 as Prior misses a wide down the leg side which goes for four!

15 South Africa 83-0 (Swann 1-0-0-1-1-0): The hightest total scored by South Africa at Newlands was against Kenya - 354-3 - in 2001, and with Smith on 43 and Amla on 37, the hosts are well poised! Swann concedes just three singles from his third over, and is beginning to get a grip on proceedings.

14 South Africa 80-0 (Collingwood 1-2-0-2-1-1): Colly, incidentally, has 99 ODI wickets to his name, but is unable to muster a 100th as seven runs are looted from his second over! Amla rocks on to the back foot twice to punch the ball through the covers for two runs and is looking very assured.

13 South Africa 73-0 (Swann 1-1-1-1-1-0): It is singles galore at Newlands, and that is not in reference to the supporters basking in the Cape Town sun. Five runs are nudged and nurdled off the 13th over with Swann unable to find any grip or turn off this placid pitch!

12 South Africa 68-0 (Collingwood 1-1-1-0-1-0): England's most-capped one-day cricketer, the centurion at Centurion, and former Eurosport-Yahoo! blogger Paul Collingwood (quite an intro for a dobbly medium-pacer!) comes into the attack. Both batsmen are settled and have no problem milking Colly for singles - four of them to be exact! /// Parksfields urges England to replicate their performace in the second ODI - consistency has never been their forte, though!

11 South Africa 64-0 (Swann 1-0-1-1-0-1): Andrew Strauss turns to spin, and Graeme Swann gets his opportunity to make an impact following his absence from the side. Four singles come off the over, but England immediately benefit from Swann's control, with Amla playing a wafty drive which almost has him caught behind by Prior!

10 South Africa 60-0 (Broad 0-4-1-0-1-4): Smith continues to walk so far across his stumps that Broad can see all three, but he does so effectively, tucking everything away through midwicket. Two boundaries are forced by the pair, who end the first powerplay on a real high as 10 runs are taken with Broad bowling tentatively. /// Soul.limbo asks if some accurate, tight bowling from England is too much to ask for?

9 South Africa 50-0 (Bresnan 0-2-0-4-0-4): Smith loves to adopt the role of the flat-track bully, and he refuses to let Bresnan settle after the Yorkshireman got him caught behind at Centurion. An emphatic thump down the ground brings Smith four, then a much more cultured shot in the same area makes it 10 off the over for the South Africa captain! The hosts' 50 is up in swift time!

8 South Africa 40-0 (Broad 0-0-1-1-0-0): Amla and Smith exchange singles with tucks into the leg side after shuffling across the crease, but Broad completes a second tight over. The seamer is really settling in now as Anderson's discontent at the other end is ended with Tim Bresnan coming on to replace him.

7 South Africa 38-0 (Anderson 0-4-0-0-2-0): South Africa look set to post a big score if the opening seven overs are anything to go by! Smith drives expansively through the covers for four as Anderson over-pitches once more, and only a fine diving stop from Pietersen prevents a second boundary.

6 South Africa 32-0 (Broad 1-0-lb-0-0-0): Broad finally finds some good areas around Smith and Amla's off stumps and he gets his rewards as just two runs are mustered off his third over. The seamer definitely looks down on pace on his return to the side following injury, but his rhythm looks to be slowly coming back - England need it to stay right there!

5 South Africa 30-0 (Anderson 0-1-3-2-0-1): Jimmy holds his head in dismay as Trott and Swann contrive to hand the batsmen a third run through some shoddy 'relay' fielding! Amla throws his plank of wood wildly at anything outside off stump, and Anderson duly obliges as the runs continue to flow unabated at the start of the South Africa innings!

4 South Africa 23-0 (Broad 4-4-0-0-0-1): Oh dear! Tim Bresnan must be a tad frustrated at square leg to see the man nicking the new ball off him bowling tripe, after the Yorkshireman's fine exploits at Centurion. Amla clips Broad through midwicket for a nonchalant four, then cracks the seamer over point for another - a shot played with absolute disdain!

3 South Africa 14-0 (Anderson 4-wd-2-0-0-0-0): Anderson is pulled away extravagantly by Smith as he errs short on the South Africa captain's leg stump. The Lancastrian is struggling with his line early on and he follows a wide with a stray half-volley which Smith only manages to thump away for two.

- Amla receives extended onfield treatment as a result of that blow to the elbow and, luckily for him, he is afforded some respite at the non-striker's end as Anderson begins his second over.

2 South Africa 7-0 (Broad 4-0-0-0-0-0): Amla stands tall and drives Broad's first delivery handsomely through extra cover for four with the outfield like marble! Broad recovers very well and strikes Amla very fiercely on the funny bone to finish - ouch!

1 South Africa 3-0 (Anderson 1-2-0-0-0-0): Hashim Amla is off the mark straight away with a tuck into the leg side as Anderson strays onto the opener's pads. Smith then drives to Broad at mid-on, who is a tad over-zealous in throwing down the stumps and conceding an over-throw!

- Graeme Smith and Hashim Amla stride out to the middle with Newlands bathed in sunshine. James Anderson will open up for England with the new white cherry!

- England were terrific in the second one-day international at Centurion and Paul Collingwood was once again instrumental in leading the tourists to victory.
