SPL - Team news: Injury woe for Celtic duo

Celtic boss Tony Mowbray has confirmed midfielders Scott Brown and Shaun Maloney will be out for another two months.

Brown (pictured) had an operation on an ankle injury in the summer which failed to clear the problem and after being out for the last five weeks, he will have further surgery in Amsterdam next week.

Maloney's Achilles injury has kept him sidelined since the 1-0 defeat by Hearts in the Co-operative Insurance Cup in October.

Mowbray said: "Scott has been to Amsterdam to see a specialist. We have come to the conclusion where we go now.

"Scott will have a minor procedure in Amsterdam which will hopefully clear up his problem. Ultimately we need to get it sorted.

"The specialist who is overseeing Scott is looking at him being out for six to eight weeks. Maloney is also out for the same length of time. There will be no surgery, just a course of injections. He has played with discomfort and he needs to sort it out now."

Celtic skipper Stephen McManus returns from suspension while midfielders Zheng Zhi and Paddy McCourt are back after recovering from a knock and illness respectively.

Goalkeeper Artur Boruc is back in training after recovering from a knee operation but will not be risked.

John Potter returns to boost St Mirren after the captain missed last week's draw against Hibernian with a facial infection.

Boss Gus MacPherson has no fresh injuries and is expected to name a similar side to last week.

Rangers winger Jerome Rothen misses the clash at Aberdeen as he remains in France being treated for swine flu, which he contracted while on a break in his homeland.

Steven Naismith, who missed the midweek defeat to Stuttgart with hamstring and calf injuries, is back for Gers.

Longer-term casualties Maurice Edu and Kirk Broadfoot are back in training and nearing a return to the first team

Aberdeen will have Chris Maguire back from suspension but Gary McDonald is banned following his red card against Motherwell.

Sone Aluko (stomach) and Fraser Fyvie (ankle) remain on the sidelines while Zander Diamond (ankle) will return to training next week.
