Nottingham Forest manager Billy Davies has challenged Joel Lynch to make the left-sided central defence position his own.
Having utilised the 22-year-old in a range of roles, Davies is keen to see him focus on developing into a regular at the heart of Forest's defence.
He told the club's official website: "Joel has been told quite clearly that we view him as a potential centre-back and that's where we're going to fit him in.
"His days of flitting around playing in different positions are gone.
"We've now got to put him firmly in where we think his long-term future will be - and that's certainly as a left-sided centre-back.
"And I've told Joel that in my head, as long and he's here, his position will always be centre-back."
