Tony McCoy and 5-4 favourite Song Of Songs produced a popular result for the opening stanjamesuk.com Novices' Hurdle at Kempton on Boxing Day.
Beaten by Champion Hurdle hopeful Osana on his jumping debut last season, James Fanshawe's gelding saw off the front-running Polyfast before the last flight and pulled three lengths clear on the run-in.
Trainer's wife Jacko reported: "Tony said the ground was dead enough and he made very heavy weather of it, but once he jumped the last he was sure he would go away.
"Tony thinks he'll get further than two miles and he'll probably jump a fence at some point in the future."
Ladbrokes and totesport are a standout 33-1 about Song Of Songs for the Supreme Novices' Hurdle.
Nicky Henderson perennially reaches the limelight at this meeting and his progressive Boomshakalaka (7-4 favourite) remains unbeaten this season following a decisive four-length victory in the stanjamesuk.com Novices' Handicap Chase.
Paul Nicholls and Ruby Walsh put a cherry on the cake iced by Kauto Star in the King George as Nycteos (4-1) took advantage of a lenient mark to pull away from Henderson's Princelet in the Stanjamesuk.com Handicap Hurdle.
Nicholls said: "He'll go back to fences now and the Racing Post Chase might be a great race for him."
