Richard Lee's Le Beau Bai won the Coral Welsh National at Chepstow.

Le Beau Bai - 0

The eight-year-old finished third over the three-mile-five-furlong trip two years ago but the 10/1 shot took the honours this time, under Charlie Poste.

The French charge and Irish challenger Giles Cross were well clear of the field with five fences to go and Le Beau Bai hit the front going over the 21st of the 22 fences and held on to win by seven lengths from Victor Dartnall's nine-year-old who went off at 15/2.

Giles Cross, rode by Denis O'Regan, was also runner-up last year.

Lee said: "It's a race I've always wanted to win. We didn't run in it last year, but he was third two years ago and it all went to plan this time.

"I was worried the ground wasn't going to be soft enough for him but Charlie got some great leaps out of him.

"We train on the Welsh borders to come here and win the Welsh National is fantastic. It's a fairytale."

Cappa Bleu (25/1) was a further 15 lengths back in third with another Irish horse Bench Warrent (50/1) completing the places.
