France's Tsonga, who also eliminated eighth seed Richard Gasquet and world number two Rafael Nadal in his astonishing run to the final, rockets up 20 places to 18th.

Tsonga's compatriot Gasquet moves up to seventh in the world based on his last 16 showing, while Australian Open title-winner Novak Djokovic remains third in the world with the top-six places unchanged.

The two new entries in the top ten were Russian Mikhail Youzhny and American James Blake, both quarter-finalists this year in Melbourne.

Last year's runner-up at the season-opening Grand Slam Fernando Gonzalez plummets 17 places out of the top ten to 24th in the world, while German Tommy Haas pays the price for his absence from Melbourne falling to 16th.
