Ligue 1 - Dos Santos snubs Lyon approach

Eurosport - Wed, 28 Jan 16:54:00 2009

French league leaders Lyon look doomed to be unsuccessful in their attempts to sign Giovani Dos Santos, as the plamaker has vowed to stay at Tottenham.

The French giants are thought to be keen on the Mexican playmaker, who as yet has failed to show his best form since joining Spurs in the summer from Barcelona.

Dos Santos's arrival was heralded as a real coup on the part of then manager Juande Ramos and his pre-season form suggested the London outfit had landed a player of considerable talent.

He has since been beset by injuries, however, and it has been suggested Harry Redknapp could be ready to offload him in a deal that would see Lyon striker Fred move to the Premier League.

But the 19-year-old insists that he has every intention of proving himself in the Premier League.

"I have never spoken to Lyon and I would like to stay at Tottenham, because ever since I have come to the club I have not had any luck," he said in the Daily Mirror.

"I am young, ambitious and I want to stay and succeed in England."

  2. What would be the point in selling him? This is the first time in a long time that we have got such a skillful player who could be the next Ronaldinho! I said could. But Redknapp likes getting/trying to get players who whould not get spurs in the top four. We need world class players not a championship players, keep dos santos! COYS
