Ferguson devastated loss

Sat, 28 Jan 16:34:49 2012

Sir Alex Ferguson was unable to mask the shattering disappointment of losing a game as Manchester United crashed out of the FA Cup at the fourth-round stage at the hands of bitter rivals Liverpool.

The Reds took the lead in the 21st minute through Daniel Agger, but Ji-Sung Park levelled things up six minutes before half-time.

However, Dirk Kuyt struck in the dying minutes to ensure a miserable day for Ferguson.

"To lose the game is hard to believe," said the Scot. "We dominated the game and we were comfortable. Our movement off the ball was good and I thought we were in the driving seat."

Indeed, so much in command did Ferguson think the visitors were that he introduced Javier Hernandez in an effort to avoid a replay.

"I was looking to win it," he said. "I thought Javier's pace around the edge of the box would be difficult to handle. To lose it is a real sickening blow."

  1. Sabotage.....someone put made De Gea wear Divers Boots..hence his inability to rise above 1 inch off the ground !!! Every team knows his weakness and play to it.Apart from some early 'shot stoppers' in the season,he's a disaster.

  2. Justice Fergie and Evra....remember Suarez?

  3. Even with about 8 first team players missing, United were still the better team throughout. Liverpool were garbage. This is the worst Liverpool team I have ever seen. I used to admire them. Now they are a joke.

  4. C,mon you mancs Fergie is the best you've ever had or ever will have but all good things must come to an end. Anyway don,t put it passed City to blow it and hand you the 20th. YNWA Dave R.

  5. Ferguson's correct.
    The better team lost.
Liverpool were garbage, worth about 3 out of 10.
United were awful, worth about 4 out of 10.
2 average teams, both having a bad day.

  6. In the driving seat ,you must be joking Fergie, most of your possession was in your own half .LOOK AT THE STATS shots on target 9-3 off target 5-6 corners 5-1 ,you may have had more of the possession but dont you just the driving seat is not in the boot.

  7. Ferguson must improve the whole team and what did Ferguson expect from a team he fielded,we are not top in the leugue we were knocked out of the chaps lgue, carling cop and now FA Cup..we need to improve our squade and Ferguson just dont see the need to buy players...

  8. once again, i do not agree with what ferguson says, and i am a man united supporter, yes!, we had the better possesioin, but that counts for nothing when you are not creating any chances, i said right from the start that we were going to struggle in the game with the set up we had. I do not understand why fergie started with 1 striker??? and why he put de gae in goal is beyond me? lindegaard is a much better goalkeeper right now. For me, the reason we are struggling in certain games is because fergie has been fiddling with the team set up too much, irrelevant of injuries, he is the main cause for us being knocked out of the f.a cup, league cup and champions league!

  9. Liverpool fans are mad if they think one win puts them back in the same class as Manu, and i am a Macclesfield Town fan. Manu are so far ahead of them in the eyes of the football world that one win or even one good season doesnt get even close, grow up, you like City have been out of the game for years it will take seasons for you to boast you are even in the same league as Manu, Barca, Real, Arsenal, Chelsea, Inter and Bayern!

A very under strength Utd team dominated a full strength salivapool team and if it was'nt for two mistakes would have won.

  13. Laolu - I've been a MU fan since the age of 4 years old and I'm nearly 62 now. I need to inform you that the sole reason for Sir Alex fielding the Golden Oldies is his squad is ravaged with injuries, and has been for most of this season. I also need you to know that I'm a realist and have been saying ever since our humiliation by City, that we will finish the season without any silverware.
What's wrong in facing what will be fact. No team has the God given right to any trophies.
Man U's time will come again soon enough, maybe next season, we will see.

  14. Disgrace Liverpool fans for booing Patrice. It just shows that they, as their manager, support a racist player in Suarez .
They should accept victory and defeat in dignity. I hope they do not expext less when Liverpool comes to OT. We wil;l support our player who in the name of the law has not done anything wrong.
Liverpool has not won the Premier League and they will continue to lag behind MU

  15. LFC were once a top club then they suddenly fell from grace and have been fighting for many years and watching UTD win nearly everything!!

Now we are nearly back under KK and what makes it even sweeter is UTD are about to do what happened to LFC!!

Gonna be fun watching them try and fight back..........................wonder how many years it'll take them?

It's gonna be worse for them as CITY have risen up unlike EFC, so loseing to even your local rivals makes it worse!!

One good point of it all is the GLAZERS will be forced to sell up after a few years!!
