McGhee positive about future

Bristol Rovers boss Mark McGhee looked to the future with optimism after making it two wins from his opening two games at the helm.

A 2-1 victory over Bradford at the Memorial Stadium followed last weekend's triumph at Cheltenham and moved the Pirates 11 points clear of the drop zone.

"The team are now on a good run of four games without defeat and if we can get a few players back from injury and perhaps add a new signing we have something to build on," McGhee said.

"I have been impressed by the players' attitude in training and by the backroom staff, so there is good reason for optimism."

Goals in each half from Lee Brown and Eliot Richards put Rovers in control before 10-man Bradford pulled a goal back through David Syers, while the visitors looked to be denied a late spot-kick when Chris Zebroski appeared to bring down Kyel Reid.

"My heart was in my mouth when Zebroski made the tackle inside the box," McGhee admitted. "But we should have had a penalty earlier on so it evened out. We came under late pressure but in a way that was a good test for us and to come through it reflected credit on the players."
