Poyet Eyeing Espanyol Duo

Tottenham assistant manager Gus Poyet has expressed an interest in Espanyol goalkeeper Carlos Kameni and defender Dani Jarque.

The former Spurs midfielder admitted the Carling Cup winners were in the hunt for reinforcements and had compiled a "long list" of potential signings.

"Kameni and Jarque are very interesting players, and any interesting player is welcome at a club like Tottenham," Poyet told Catalan radio station RAC1.

"Both are part of a long list of players that the sporting director is looking at and that the club is following with a view to reinforcing our team."

Jarque was rumoured to be joining Spurs in January, when Espanyol were flying high in the Primera Liga, but the defender insisted he was fully focused on helping his side qualify for the Champions League.

Since then, Tottenham have bought centre-back Jonathan Woodgate so speculation has cooled.

Kameni also come close to a move to England when a transfer to Wolves in 2003 fell through after the Cameroon international was denied a work permit.

The 24-year-old moved to Espanyol a year later and has since established himself as the first-choice stopper, meaning any decision to sign him would likely put Paul Robinson's Tottenham future in doubt.

Despite admitting an interest in the two players, Poyet was keen to stress that nothing had been finalised.

"We haven't taken any decision regarding making a move," he added. "Soon we'll approach the subject and make a decision."
