Ramos Hooligan Fined

The Seville public prosecutor has slapped a fine of 4,680 euros on the man found guilty of throwing a bottle at then-Sevilla coach Juande Ramos.

The unnamed 31-year-old Real Betis fan was banned from all sporting events for two years and was also ordered to pay Ramos 360 euros in compensation.

Ramos, who is now in charge of Premier League club Tottenham, had to spend the night in hospital after being hit on the head with a bottle thrown from the stands during Sevilla's Copa del Rey clash with city rivals Real Betis on February 28 2007.

He was knocked unconscious and had to spend seven days recovering at home after being released from hospital the following day.

The court said the suspect committed the act "despite being aware of the serious consequences his actions could have given the nature of the game and the high number of spectators present".

The game was abandoned and was later played behind closed doors at Getafe's Colisseum Alfonso Perez stadium.

Real Betis were also handed a three-match ban from their home ground.
