Leeds United have signed Aston Villa defender Stephen O'Halloran on a month-long loan deal.

The Republic of Ireland international, who has two caps to his name, featured in pre-season matches for Villa prior to the 2006-2007 season, but has acquired most of his first-team experience during loan spells at Wycombe and Southampton.

He enjoyed an 11-game spell at Wycombe last season, and played one game at St Mary's last month.

The 20-year-old was handed his international debut against Ecuador in 2007 by current United assistant manager Steve Staunton.

He also played in the 1-1 draw with Bolivia in May.

The County Cork-born defender has signed a deal that lasts until the end of March.
