League Two - Round-up: Brentford go four clear

Brentford extended their lead at the top of the League Two table with a 1-0 win over promotion rivals Bury.

The Shakers could have gone level on points with their hosts had they won, but it was Brentford who took the lead six minutes from the break through Marcus Bean.

Any hope the visitors had of getting back into the match evaporated when Stephen Dawson was dismissed 20 minutes from time.

Wycombe dropped a place to third on goal difference after they were held to a goalless draw at Morecambe. Rochdale replaced them in second spot with a comfortable 2-0 home win over struggling Grimsby.

Promotion-chasing Shrewsbury shot themselves in the foot at Macclesfield as first Shane Cansdell-Sherriff headed into his own net in the 21st minute before Ben Herd gave away a second-half penalty which Gareth Evans duly converted.

Nathaniel Brown capped off a good result for the hosts as he netted in stoppage time.

Bournemouth failed to move out of the relegation zone as they lost 1-0 at Gillingham, with Nicky Southall getting the only goal of the game in the 58th minute to see the hosts move into the play-off zone.

Exeter maintained their push for promotion with a 2-0 triumph against 10-man Darlington.

Neil Austin handled in the area and Matthew Gill stepped up to convert the penalty in the 72nd minute before Craig McAllister's header doubled their lead 10 minutes later.

Alan White was dismissed two minutes from time to add to Darlington's misery in the week they entered administration.

Bradford slipped out of the play-off places after they lost 3-1 at 15th-placed Notts County.

A first-half brace from Jonathan Forte put County comfortably in the lead before Delroy Facey bagged a third in first-half stoppage time.

Peter Thorne grabbed a late consolation for the visitors five minutes from time.

Two goals in the final four minutes saw relegation-threatened Chester come back from two goals down to snatch a point against Dagenham & Redbridge.

The promotion-chasing visitors seemed on the cusp of an important victory following first-half goals from Ben Strevens and Matt Ritchie.

But David Mannix pulled one back four minutes from time and Kevin Roberts headed in the equaliser three minutes later.

Luton triumphed 3-1 at Port Vale to keep alive their slim hopes of avoiding relegation, and are now 14 points off safety with a game in hand.

John McCombe gave Vale the lead in the 26th minute but Asa Hall levelled matters two minutes from the break and Kevin Gallen fired the visitors in front seven minutes after the interval.

Chris Martin sealed the points in the 63rd minute.

Aldershot also triumphed 3-1, against Accrington Stanley .

A strike by Kirk Hudson and a Jake Robinson brace put Aldershot firmly in control at the end of the first half before Craig Lindfield grabbed a consolation for the visitors in the 62nd minute.

Elsewhere, Rotherham beat Lincoln 1-0 thanks to Michael Cummins' 65th-minute goal and Chesterfield were held to a 1-1 draw by Barnet.

Ismail Yakubu gave the visitors the lead in the 33rd minute but Daniel Hall pounced 16 minutes from time to snatch a share of the points.
