Ceiron Thomas inspired Leeds to a 26-10 victory over Wasps as the hosts boosted their campaign for Guinness Premiership survival.

Thomas's assured and accurate first-half kicking display put the hosts on course for their first home win in the top flight since March 2008 despite Danny Cipriani's converted try.

Wasps survived a period down to 14 men after Ben Broster's sin-binning but a flurry of second-half penalties allowed Thomas to guide Leeds to their fourth win of the season with an 18-point haul as Wasps struggled to contain Leeds' abrasive pack.

The home side's victory was given extra garnish with Hendrie Fourie's late try and Joe Ford's penalty.

Although it was not enough to move them off the bottom of the table, the victory over play-off chasing Wasps enhances an atmosphere of optimism at Headingley.

Bath's march up the table continued as Saracens crashed to their fourth league defeat in five outings, going down 16-14 at Vicarage Road.

Referee David Rose littered the game with penalties, mostly against the hosts, and turned the game when he gave Bath a penalty try.

After a night of torrential rain in Hertfordshire, Rose was at Vicarage Road four hours before kick-off to satisfy himself the pitch was playable.

And, while it was very heavy - particularly as Watford played a Championship game against Newcastle on it 24 hours earlier - Rose and the hosts agreed the game could go ahead.

Ryan Davis completed the Bath scoring with three penalties and a conversion, while Derick Hougaard kicked three penalties for Saracens in addition to Wikus van Heerden's try.

London Irish were emphatic 29-14 winners over local rivals Harlequins at the Madejski Stadium.

Quins were made to pay for their frequent misdemeanours, with Tom Homer kicking five penalties to ensure victory for Irish.

Steffon Armitage and Nick Kennedy scored tries for Irish, with Homer converting them both.

Harlequins were awarded a penalty try and George Lowe also crossed and both were converted by Nick Evans.
