Jones denies Germany coach rift

Fri 28 Mar, 01:00 PM

Jermaine Jones has denied falling out with Germany coach Joachim Low after being left out of the squad for the friendly win over Switzerland. The Schalke defensive midfielder was surprisingly omitted from the 21-man party for the clash in Basle, having played in Germany's previous outing in Austria.

Jones had reportedly accused Low of not giving him enough time to prove himself at international level, but has now dismissed suggestions of a rift with the national team boss.

He told the Bild newspaper: "That was only a big misunderstanding. I telephoned the national coach and everything has been cleared up between him and I. We have no problems with one another.

"It is clear that players who played in their great World Cup campaign in 2006 have a small advantage."
