Southampton boss Nigel Pearson has dismissed suggestions that Cardiff may have their minds elsewhere at Ninian Park on Saturday.Cardiff are just a week away from a trip to Wembley for their FA Cup semi-final against Barnsley, but Pearson knows opposite number Dave Jones will have his players fully focussed on the Championship showdown.

"There are two ways of looking at it. Of course they will not want to get injured for the semi-final, but they are also playing for places," said Pearson.

"I would expect their players will see it as a chance to catch the manager's eye.

"We cannot worry about their approach, it's about what we do ourselves. No-one will do us any favours.

"Cardiff are having a good season in the league and have done well in the cup but we are fighting for our lives - we would be foolish if we go into this one thinking it might be easy."
