Tranmere moved back into the League One play-off zone but they were made to work hard for a 2-1 win against a spirited Swindon side.Wet and windy conditions made for a disjointed match but Tranmere had the boost of an early goal when Steve Jennings found the target after 11 minutes from Shane Sherriff's through-ball.
Ben Chorley headed off the line from Swindon's Jon McGovern in the 17th minute but Rovers doubled their lead five minutes before the break.
Chris Greenacre found the target from a deep corner by Paul McLaren, with the referee's assistant signalling the ball had crossed the line before Robins goalkeeper Peter Brezovan kicked clear.
Swindon were out of luck three minutes into the second half when Robbie Stockdale headed off the line from Hasney Aljofree
But they kept battling and Billy Paynter put them back in contention when converting a right-wing cross by Simon Cox.
