Leeds United host play-off rivals Brighton and Hove Albion on Saturday without midfielder Alan Thompson.

Thompson (calf) is joined on the sidelines by Andrew Hughes (suspended), but Jonathan Douglas is back in the squad after recovering from injury.

The midfielder has been out for three months with a knee problem, but despite a return to fitness appears unlikely to replace 19-year-old Jonny Howson in the starting line-up.

Brighton will be without midfielder Ian Westlake - who is not allowed to play under the terms of his loan agreement between the two sides.

Leeds are currently eighth in League One - two points behind Albion in sixth - and could climb into the play-off zone with victory at Elland Road.

Leeds boss Gary McAllister predicts a difficult afternoon and is expecting a disciplined and committed approach from the visitors.

"I saw them at [Nottingham] Forest on Monday," he said. "They competed very well and they're on a decent run. They're pretty confident and they frustrated Forest.

"They'll come to frustrate us. They are organised, they work extremely hard and it'll be a tough game. We've got to match those things and hopefully our quality will come through."
