Germany's Magdalena Neuner won the women's 10km pursuit in Khanty-Mansiysk to leave the women's overall World Cup title wide open with just one race of the season remaining.
Neuner produced a dominant performance in Russia to finish the race in 27 minutes 53.01 seconds, almost 30 seconds ahead of Italy's Michela Ponza in second place, who was closely followed by France's Marie Dorin in third.
World Cup rivals Helena Jonsson of Sweden and Kati Wilhelm of Germany finished well down the field, however, in 16th and 19th places respectively, leaving them dead-level on 915 points each heading in to Sunday's mass start race.
Neuner is in third place overall some 38 points behind, and also has a chance of lifting the overall title should her rivals finish back in the pack again during the final race.
In the men's 12.5km pursuit race Emil Hegle Svendsen beat overall World Cup champion Ole Einar Bjoerndalen to victory by the narrowest of margins. The two Norwegians were separated by just one tenth of a second, with Austria's Christoph Sumann finishing 23.8 seconds back in third place.
