Macclesfield boss Keith Alexander sees no reason why his team cannot compete with the best sides in League Two next season.The Silkmen have endured a fraught but ultimately successful battle against relegation this term after Alexander inspired them to safety.

Now, with their Football League status assured for another season, the former Lincoln manager is looking ahead with optimism.

"A lot of these players can really play," he said.

"If we can defend well and get up the pitch and play our football in the final third then we can be as good as anybody else in this division."
