Brown hopeful of Windass fitness

Mon 28 Apr, 02:30 PM

Hull boss Phil Brown believes striker Dean Windass has every chance of being involved in next weekend's crucial trip to Ipswich. The veteran frontman is a doubt for Sunday's showdown as he is currently hampered by a gashed thigh.

Windass came off second best following a challenge with Crystal Palace midfielder Shaun Derry at the weekend as the Tigers clinched a 2-1 win to keep their automatic promotion hopes alive heading into the final game of the season.

The 39-year-old, who has scored 13 goals this term, could now turn out at Portman Road on Sunday to bolster Brown's attacking options.

"Dean has got a nasty gash which needed 20 stitches," said Brown.

"Unfortunately, Dean had to come off, but I wouldn't write him off for the Ipswich game.

"He wanted to come back on against Palace, but the injury was on the calf where he had a problem before the game."
