Alan Irvine has hinted Preston's on-loan striker Craig Beattie could be handed an opportunity to shine in the final-day trip to Bristol City.Beattie, 24, joined North End last month on loan from Championship rivals West Brom until the end of the season.

He sustained a hamstring injury on his debut against Leicester at the beginning of last month and has not played since.

However, he is now fit again and Irvine said: "I certainly don't want the lad to come up here and not get the opportunity to play.

"He's had a few training sessions with us and I've explained that situation to him.

"He's accepted that, even though he was obviously very keen to play against Ipswich at the weekend."
