Porter to miss final Pools game

Mon 28 Apr, 05:30 PM

Hartlepool striker Joel Porter could have played his final game for the club after sustaining a knee injury against Nottingham Forest. The 29-year-old - who has scored 13 goals this season - is out of contract in the summer and it remains to be seen whether he will prolong his near five-year spell at Victoria Park.

Boss Danny Wilson is remaining coy over Porter's future, but does concede the forward is doubtful for Saturday's final game of the campaign at Walsall.

"I don't know how bad Joel's injury is but it wouldn't surprise me if that was his season over with the luck we have been having," Wilson told the Hartlepool Mail.

"Until we get the last game out the way and then the chairman decides whether we keep players or not, we won't know if that's the last we see of Joel. We put our recommendations in and see what happens.

"That's the prerogative of the club. It's a bit frustrating for the players I suppose but that's the way it is."
