Geremi Warning For Chelsea

Mon 28 Apr, 03:09 PM

Geremi has warned former side Chelsea that Newcastle are gearing up to ruin their Premier League title dreams.

Chelsea's penultimate match of the season is at St James' Park next Monday and Avram Grant's side need a victory to ensure the title race with Manchester United goes to the last day of the season.

But Cameroon midfielder Geremi, who spent four years at Chelsea before moving to the Magpies last summer, says there will be no room for sentiment.

"I'm sorry for Chelsea but that's football," Geremi told Newcastle's website, nufc.co.uk.

"We are not going to let them come to win. We have to give them a good game and enjoy it.

"It's the last game at home, in front of our fans, against one of the big teams.

"We've been playing well in the last few weeks and it's a big opportunity to send a message, it's a big test for us to see how far we can go."

Meanwhile, Newcastle manager Kevin Keegan has been linked with a move for one of his former players, Manchester City captain Richard Dunne.

The Republic of Ireland central defender only has another year left on his contract and after failing to persuade Dunne to sing a new deal City may be willing to sell rather than risk the 28-year-old moving on a free transfer next year.
