Derby manager Paul Jewell has revealed he hopes to bring some of Arsenal's young fledglings to Pride Park on loan next season.

Jewell has already started shaping the side he inherited from Billy Davies into his own mould and is expected to make wholesale changes over the summer as they prepare for life back in the Championship.

He confirmed he is keen follow the blueprint of clubs like Birmingham, who brought Nicklas Bendtner, Fabrice Muamba and Sebastian Larsson to St Andrews on temporary deals following their relegation from the top flight two years ago and bounced back at the first attempt.

The County boss admitted he has already broached the subject with Arsene Wenger and will do so again after Monday night's match between the sides at Pride Park.

"I have spoken to Arsene a couple of times in the season about maybe having a look at some of his players," he said.

"What I said was if you'd be prepared to loan out anyone let us know. It benefits everybody so it's something I'll be speaking to him about on Monday."

One of Jewell's first moves was to bring in Alan Stubbs from Everton in a bid to shore up his defence and the centre-back is anticipating a busy summer of arrivals and departures at the east midlands club.

Jewell named Chris Hutchings as his new number two following Stan Ternent's appointment as Huddersfield boss and Stubbs believes the 50-year-old could prove to one of their best signings.

"Since he (Jewell) has come here there have been massive changes on the playing side, I think 10 or so players have gone out, either sold or on loan, so he knows what he wants," Stubbs said.

"I think you will see over the summer there will be significant change here. Chris has come in on the coaching side and that could prove to be one of his best signings.

"They have a winning formula together. I have spoken to a few friends at Wigan who couldn't say enough positive things about him.

"He has a very good name in the game as a coach. I spoke to Kevin Kilbane and quite a few other players and they said he was a top, top man.

"This is the first piece in the jigsaw the gaffer is trying to put together."

Recruiting new personnel may be one of the issues addressed over the summer but Stubbs insists finding some consistency will be just as important.

"It hasn't been easy for everyone involved but I think the biggest thing we need to do is get the performance to a consistent standard," he added.

"I think we have been up one week, down the next, so-so the week after and then poor again in between."
