Premier League - Shevchenko 'to return to Chelsea'

Eurosport - Tue, 28 Apr 15:35:00 2009

Andriy Shevchenko's agent admits it is highly unlikely the Milan striker will stay at the San Siro beyond the end of the season.

Shevchenko returned to Milan on loan from Chelsea last summer but has disappointed since his move back to Italy.

The Ukraine striker has found himself mainly on the bench making just two league starts this season, and Fabio Parisi believes his client will not remain in Italy next season.

"Shevchenko is a player on loan at Milan from Chelsea and I think he will return to London," he said.

"Frankly, I don't think it's possible that the Rossoneri decide to keep him.

"I don't know what kind of rapport he has found with (Carlo) Ancelotti and his team-mates, the only problem is that he is a player on loan and, given how the season has gone, I think Andriy will return to Chelsea.

"If that's to stay there or not is to be seen, it depends on who will be the coach and what he wants to do.

"But I don't think the doors of Italy will re-open for him next season.

"Anyway, Sheva will decide on his own, he's quite calm, he doesn't need anyone's help. However, another country seems to me the more likely option."

Shevchenko admitted at the end of March that he would probably return to London but, after scoring for Ukraine against England and providing a crucial assist against Lecce, the 32-year-old claimed earlier this month that he hoped to still be at the San Siro next season.

  2. schevchenko is a shadow of the great player he once was and milan must have jumped for joy at the £30million pounds chelsea reputiley paid for him as after years playing in italian footbal the pace of the premership proved to much for this once great player. so if milan dont want him back next season chelsea be made to pay up his contract as after all who in there right mind would pay a player £121,000 a week to sit on the bench

  8. He hasn't lost his spark yet, he just isn't playing enough. Despite being snubbed by AC Milan, his scoring record for Ukraine in the world cup qualifiers is great! And his club still don't want to start him. I don't think he should stay in Milan anymore.

I think Chelsea should (and could) use him well. A striker doesn't find form overnight. He gets it by playing games, not by sitting on the bench. I still think Sheva and Drogba can combine better than Drogba and Anelka.

  9. Between Shevchenko and and Drogba who is older? They are age mates, this means chelsea has always wanted knee jerk solutions to their problems just buying ready made players!!Get a striker to replace Drogba and Anelka, they will not play well next season.

  15. Probably give him away free with a box of frosties,or throw him on the striker scrapheap where he could sit alongside michael owen,i mean, who would want to pay his wages, hes useless at best.

  19. At 32, well past his best and not scoring goals I reckon he would fit right in at Newcastle

  20. Guys come on be fair.
The guy was world class, yes hes probably not what he was. Yes chelsea paid through the nose for him and yes he isnt a top player anymore.
He could however still do a great job at a Man C, Boro, Newc U, Blackburn, West Ham.
Infact west ham would be perfect for him.
He could nurture the kids coming through and start playing bit part roles like our current PFA Player of the year!!!
Give the guy a break, he worked as hard as he could when he came here and it was one hell of a shock.
Anyone who has lived abroad before will know its not easy to go somewhere different, and then be expected to score 30 goals too???
    Get off his back
