Cesar's Hawthorns reign is over

Wed 28 May, 02:30 PM

West Brom manager Tony Mowbray will not be pursuing a permanent deal for "solid" on-loan Marseille defender Bostjan Cesar this summer. The Slovenia international joined Albion in August and went on to make 24 appearances at centre-half during his season-long stay at The Hawthorns.

He scored one goal - a precise volley in the 2-1 home victory over Burnley in February.

"Bostjan is a good man. He is a good professional who worked extremely hard last season, but I just feel we should be looking down other avenues now," said Mowbray.

"He played a very important part in accumulating the number of points we did and we wish him all the best.

"He played some very solid games for us and played an integral part in our promotion, but these are the decisions I've got to make."
