Fagan aims to pickpocket Hull move

Wed 28 May, 11:30 AM

Derby striker Craig Fagan has expressed his desire to secure a permanent switch to Premier League new boys Hull City. The striker spent the last three months of last season on loan at the KC Stadium and helped the Tigers book their place in the top flight.

Having seen his parent club Derby head in the opposite direction, Fagan is understandably keen to remain among English football's elite.

He admits that he is uncertain as to what the future may hold, but having previously enjoyed a productive two-year spell at the club between 2005-07, he is hoping to have done enough to persuade Phil Brown into making a summer move.

"I don't know what's happening" he told the Mail. "I've tried to enjoy the celebrations but we'll wait and see what happens over the next couple of weeks.

"The manager has mentioned it many times since I arrived about coming back but the season has finished now and maybe it's time to start talking about it.

"I'd love to get the chance to play back in the Premier League and more so because it would be with Hull.

"I always enjoyed a good part of my career here, and for the whole city it's going to be a massive year.

"At Derby, they'd been in the Premier League before but this is the first time for Hull. It would be good to be a part of that."

Fagan accepts that he is unlikely to force his way into Paul Jewell's plans should he return to Pride Park, and feels that a transfer is now the best option for both parties.

"When I was at Derby at first I was wanted by the manager (Billy Davies) and I played 27 games in the Premier League," he said.

"The new manager came in with new opinions and even though I played under him, he wants to rebuild his squad."
