Mark Hudson insists he opted to move from Crystal Palace across south-east London to Charlton for footballing, rather than financial, reasons. The centre-half, who captained the Eagles last season, snubbed a new contract at Selhurst Park and instead made a free-transfer switch to their fierce rivals on a three-year deal.
"I just want to play football - deciding to move was never about the money," he told the Croydon Advertiser.
"Whatever rewards that come with playing football, then so be it - but moving to Charlton was nothing to do with money. It was a footballing decision."
