Wed 28 May, 05:15 PM

Lincoln manager Peter Jackson has spoken for the first time of his "pain and stress" following his "horrendous" treatment for throat cancer.Jackson has returned to Sincil Bank on a part-time basis and is now awaiting the final all-clear from doctors. Assistant Iffy Onuora has been in charge of the first team since March.

Jackson said: "I'm delighted to be back at the club, but it's important I don't rush things as I haven't been given the all-clear just yet. I've got another appointment at the hospital soon to make sure the treatment has worked.

"I knew the treatment would knock me back, but nothing could have prepared me for the pain and stress I went through and it really did throw me. I was drip-fed for over four weeks and it was horrendous."

Jackson added: "But I'm back now and I'm really looking forward to the new season and bringing in some fresh new faces."

Meanwhile, Shane Clarke has signed a new one-year contract. The 20-year-old was given his first-team debut by Jackson in January and went on to make 16 appearances.
