Peacock to make attacking return

Wed 28 May, 05:15 PM

Lee Peacock has revealed that Swindon boss Maurice Malpas plans to revert him back to his former position as a striker for next season. The 31-year-old has become a firm fans favourite in the Robins midfield since joining the club in January 2006, despite forging a career as a forward at previous clubs.

However, Peacock has been employed in a more advanced role since Malpas succeeded Paul Sturrock at the County Ground helm in January and admits he will be rediscovering his goalscoring boots next term.

"I'm back up front," Peacock told the Swindon Advertiser. "Maurice Malpas sees me more as a striker, so I've just got my head around that now.

"When I stopped playing up front I didn't think I would miss it, but now I'm back there I really enjoyed that last month, especially as we were getting some good results.

"I've spent most of my life playing there and I know I can get a lot sharper than I have been the last couple of years."
