Cardiff captain Darren Purse has vowed to put this season's personal disappointments behind him and get it right next term. The former Birmingham defender endured a torrid season for the Bluebirds and was twice axed from the first team by Dave Jones following calamitous performances against Charlton in December and Leicester in March.
But the 31-year-old is now hoping to use the summer to recuperate before returning to challenge the now firmly established central defensive partnership of Roger Johnson and Glenn Loovens.
"On a personal note I had a rubbish season, certainly below average to tell you the truth and I need to turn it around next time," Purse told the South Wales Echo.
"This term has just not happened for me. I had probably the worst pre-season of my career and for one reason or another, I spent most of the year playing catch-up.
"But I'm sure I can do a job here next season. It's best I forget this season, as I didn't play half the games I should have done, and aim to put that right next time around."
